QUILTERS CORNER CLUB

Please join us for the Quilters Corner Sit & Sew!...a FREE community club that promotes an interest in Quilting and related topics. Everyone is invited, regardless of your skill. Beginners will receive a complimentary starter kit. Enjoy the chat and the advice that everyone shares. Beginning Sept 9th, Sit & Sew sessions take place on Thursdays from 10 am until noon. FIELD OF FLAGS - Honoring & Remembering 9-11
Friday, September 10, 2010 : 8:00 PM to Sunday, September 12, 2010 : 9:00 PMIn honor of the victims and heroes of September 11th, HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK will host the annual Field of Flags remembrance. This solemn remembrance will feature a field of American flags, one for each victim and emergency responder who lost their life on September 11, 2001. The flags will be lit with blue light and spaced so that those who wish may walk between them. Highland Memorial Park, located at 1515 NE Third Street in Ocala, is proud to provide a place for our community to remember 9-11 on this 9th anniversary of the tragedy.
Field of Flags will begin Friday, September 10th, and runs through Sunday, September 12th. Visitors are welcome from 8am until 9pm daily. This an event for the entire family; there is NO CHARGE to attend.
On Saturday, September 11, an interactive memorial will take place in the still of the evening. Beginning at dusk, while the nearly 3,000 flags stand in perfect rows, a multi-screen video tribute will display the story of events of and surrounding 9-11. Additionally, as part of the special commemorance, candles will be available for those who attend to light in remembrance.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS AND HEROES OF 9/11?
Donations will be accepted at the remembrance to support Interfaith Emergency Services, Inc. On Saturday, LifeSouth Community Blood Center will be onsite conducting a blood drive from 4pm-8pm. Walk-in donors are welcome or appointments can be made in advance by calling HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK at 352.369.1020.

SHEPHERD'S LIGHTHOUSE - Charity Bowl Fundraiser
Saturday, September 11, 2010 : 1:00 PM to 4:00 PMKNOCK DOWN PINS FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN! Help support homeless mothers and children go from tragedy to triumph while having fun bowling. The Charity Bowl will take place at the Fiesta Bowl in The Villages on Saturday, September 11, from 1pm - 4pm. Tickets are $15 per person which includes shoe rental. There will also be a silent auction, raffle, and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets are available at the Shepherd's Lighthouse Thrift Stores. The address for the park is 1515 NE Third Street in Ocala (2 blocks behind the Cascades Office Complex). Stop by and enjoy a delicious hot lunch prepared by Mojo’s Grill & Catering. The menu will be Rondo's famous grilled-to-perfection wings, creamy coleslaw & home-style macaroni-n-cheese...soooooo goood! Lunch will be served on a donation basis with 100% of the proceeds benefiting your local Devereux Kids Charity. Relax in the shade or take your lunch “to go”... it’s up to you. This event is a come-and-go as you please casual type atmosphere. SAVE THE DATE! Hospice of Marion County's 7th Annual STEEL HORSE STAMPEDE
Saturday, November 06, 2010 : 8:00 AM to 1:00 PMHospice of Marion County will be having their 7th Annual Steel Horse Stampede on Saturday, November 6th. Registration will start at 8am. The ride begins at 10am. The cost is $25 minimum donation for each Rider and $15 for their passenger. The cost includes a light breakfast, lunch by Tommy's BBQ, door prizes, 50/50 and entertainment by the Nightshift Band. All proceeds benefit Hospice patient care.
